Baltimore is focusing on more potential first-round pass rushers and offensive linemen, according to reports in the National Football Post and The Baltimore Sun.
Yesterday, it was reported that Purdue pass-rusher Ryan Kerrigan – who ESPN’s Mel Kiper compared to Jarret Johnson – is scheduled to come to Baltimore for a private workout.
Today, news broke that Ravens Linebackers Coach Dean Pees is reportedly set to meet Georgia outside linebacker Justin Houston a day before his pro day next week.
Houston recorded 10 sacks as a junior this past season (second-most in the SEC) and seven as a sophomore. He also has experience playing with his hand in the dirt as a rush defensive end and worked more as a stand-up linebacker this past season, giving him desirable versatility.
However, the 6-foot-3, 258-pounder was suspended in May of 2009 for reportedly violating the university’s substance abuse policy, reports The Sun. He’s considered a borderline first-round prospect.
The Ravens will also reportedly hold a private workout for Baylor offensive lineman Danny Watkins on Wednesday. He joins the list of other linemen, including Mississippi State’s Derek Sherrod, that Baltimore has expressed interest in.
Watkins, is a former Canadian firefighter and hockey player who started playing football in junior college. The 6-foot-3, 310-pounder will be a 26-year-old rookie. He’s listed by NFLDraftScout.com as the second-best guard behind Florida’s Mike Pouncey.
